Volunteer at Toledo Bikes
All Toledo Bikes Volunteers:
Toledo Bikes welcomes volunteers 18 years old and above during our retail service. Volunteers must sign a liability waiver and are encouraged to arrive at the start of open hours to ensure a spot if they haven’t been there before.
Volunteering for those earning a bike is on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who haven’t yet reached earning their first bicycle are a priority. Sometimes, due to volume, we will cap our new volunteer limit at four people at a time.
Toledo Bikes welcomes volunteers of various mechanical abilities. Volunteers interested in working on bikes must take or test out of mechanic skills class as soon as possible. In addition, individuals must spend at least one hour volunteering each visit when they volunteer; staff can work together with volunteers on bicycles if time allows.
If you have particular skills like construction, plumbing, or any expertise, please mention that; we can use your talents!
We are always looking for ways to improve our space. If you are an experienced bike mechanic, please mention it, and we’ll help familiarize you with our repair standards.
What Volunteers Get
What Volunteers Do
We seek out tasks for volunteers that are educational, rewarding and matched to various skill levels. Of course, there is always shop “house-keeping” work like cleaning, organizing, or moving bikes around. Still, volunteers may work on something bike-related if there is time. However, depending on how busy we get, we can’t always spend as much time personally assisting volunteers as we would like. On slower days, we aim to pair volunteers with techs to help them learn new skills in bike repair.
